Making the Best Out of My Garage Sale

Having a garage/yard sale is exhausting, and its a real drag to spend the whole day in your yard having people haggle over a quarter and still have a bunch of stuff left over at the end.  I will never have that problem again.   The sad thing is, it took my 12 year old to teach me this lesson.  You see, although my stuff is technically worth more, its only worth what the people who show up are willing to pay for it.  I already knew that, but I kept thinking I’d rather give it away than sell it for too little…  WHY???  I shouldn’t care whether or not its worth more. The Best Birthday Cake Ever… If You’re a Dog!

I’ve been suckered again.  You see, last week was my dog’s 8th birthday, and somehow my kids convinced me that our German Shepherd mutt-mix “Daisy” just had to have her own cake.  This wasn’t  the first time either.  For the last five years Daisy has gotten a special cake for her birthday, and every year I swear I won’t make it again.  Every year, I do.   What’s so bad about making your dog a cake?  Nothing, if you can stand the smell of the concoction my kids created — which, incidentally, Daisy happens to love.  The recipe for the best dog birthday cake ever is not especially complicated — but  I am particularly disgusted and proud of the frosting.  MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm Cake: 1 package yellow cake mix 2 hot dogs (thinly sliced) 1/2 cup cheddar … Read entire article »
