The Best Birthday Cake Ever… If You’re a Dog!

I’ve been suckered again.  You see, last week was my dog’s 8th birthday, and somehow my kids convinced me that our German Shepherd mutt-mix “Daisy” just had to have her own cake.  This wasn’t  the first time either.  For the last five years Daisy has gotten a special cake for her birthday, and every year I swear I won’t make it again.  Every year, I do.

What’s so bad about making your dog a cake?  Nothing, if you can stand the smell of the concoction my kids created — which, incidentally, Daisy happens to love.  The recipe for the best dog birthday cake ever is not especially complicated — but  I am particularly disgusted and proud of the frosting.  MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Cake:
1 package yellow cake mix
2 hot dogs (thinly sliced)
1/2 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)

Just prepare the cake to the box’s instructions and mix in the hot dog and cheese before pouring into your cake pan.

Frosting and Filling (double layer cake, of course!)

1 jar of Peanut Butter
1 can of tuna
1/2 cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
1/4 cup Parmesan cheese

Mix all the frosting ingredients ( just use 1/4 cup of the cheddar cheese, the rest will be for the topping) together and use for cake filling and for frosting the entire double-layer cake. Sprinkle with remaining shredded cheddar, place candles on the cake, plug your nose and sing Happy Birthday to your pet.

My dog LOVES her birthday cake, and if you want to slice up yourself a piece, have at it — but we have never tasted it (and I never will!).

I just thought I would share this with all you pet lovers so you can take comfort in knowing that  there are other crazy people out there that do very strange things for their pets, just like you do.
