When I was requested to review these latest DVD full season releases, I was quite surprised that they have had a full two seasons already. Why hadn’t I heard of Invader Zim? After all, I pretty much let my children watch whatever they are into (within reason, of course). I wasn’t sure that this supposedly hilarious little animated series was going to be as funny as I was told and frankly, at the beginning of the first episode I wasn’t sure I was going to give this a good review. But, things changed and I now see why this has made it for more than one season.

At the beginning of the first episode, it is a little slow- but after you get the basics of the characters down, the show ends up being pretty funny. My kids, who initially were bored and wanted me to turn it off, suddenly found themselves wanting to continue on with the rest of the discs as they went to bed. I heard giggling from the bedroom, and two hours later I had to insist they actually sleep. So, if you have never watched Invader Zim, or only saw a partial episode where it didn’t connect with you, you may want to try it again. The following is a little about Invader ZIM himself and a list of all that’s included on both Season Sets.

Invader ZIM, sent by the Almighty Tallest, leaders of the planet IRK, is on a mission of doom. He operates disguised as an earthling child, although it is one with a green complexion which he explains away as a “skin condition.” Accompanied by GIR, his faithful, intelligence-gathering robot who’s camouflaged in a zippered dog suit, Invader ZIM has come to assume control of Earth and its annoying inhabitants.

As you might expect, however, a wrench has been tossed into ZIM’s devious plan. That wrench’s name? Dib, a ‘pitiful human’ obsessed with the paranormal. Dib is the only human who recognizes ZIM as the potential threat that he is, and Dib will stop at nothing to expose him.

At 476 minutes, the first season has plenty of interesting material to keep you laughing and entertained, and the 166 minute Season 2 makes the Invader ZIM collection complete – altogether making over 10 ½ hours of episodes.

Apparently, this series turns out to be one of the most sought after Nickelodeon hits and for good reason. The Season Sets contain the following and are available exclusively on Amazon.com
