Everyone’s always telling you what you can buy dad for Father’s Day. If your money is tight (or even if its not), you may be looking for alternatives. When it comes to dad, homemade gifts are the easiest to come by. Here are 5 great things you can do for dad that are free (or almost free):
1. Make him a special snack and have him relax. Cook dad his favorite snack and wait on him all day long. If you have one of those foot-massager contraptions (you know portable kind you fill up with hot water and it bubbles and vibrates, etc), get it out and have him soak his feet with manly smelling bath salt. It may not be something he would think he’d enjoy, but he will.
2. Make homemade Father’s Day cards. Even if you have already purchased a funny card for dad, having a handmade card from a young child can make your day. Tell them to draw pictures of whatever they think daddy’s favorite things are on the card — it’s usually good for a laugh and sometimes a little surprising.
3. Give him gift certificates for chores you usually see him doing. Take out the trash, do some yard work, dust his favorite man-toys… whatever it is he does, offer to do it for him.
4. Give him a “Daddy’s Day Off” – throw in extra gift certificate for a Daddy’s day off. One complete day off for dad — to be cashed in at a later date.
5. Have your kids write down three things their dad has taught them. Remind dad how important he is by having your kids write down three things dad has taught them. It can be about anything — sports, life, love, or or just how to be a good person.
Every dad wants to feel appreciated, even if its just once a year. So take some time this Father’s Day to make your kids (or your own dad) feel special. Happy Father’s Day to all dads!
