Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle: Turtles Forever
(Scheduled Release Date August 24, 2010)
The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles meet…the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles? Watching this movie was a little harder for me because I have never understood the appeal of this series. However, keeping an open mind and monitoring the attention span of the little “mini-reviewers” as we watched — this wasn’t a bad movie. But I must say that the appeal lends itself more to the boys than the girls. And, believe or not, this DVD actually being released for the first time by Nickelodeon and Paramount in honor of the 25th anniversary of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (I didn’t know they had been around that long!)
Now about the movie… this newest release the turtles from one dimension meet the turtles from another dimension when a teleporting mishap occurs All the turtles then must join together to find the Technodrome to fix the interdimensional mishap. Meanwhile, Shredder tracks down his counterpart, Ch’rell, who devises a master plan to travel back to the Prime Universe to get rid of the turtles once and for all! As worlds collide, the turtles come face to face with the classic characters like Splinter, Casey and April, and a slew of archenemies including Krang, Hun, the Foot Soldiers, the Purple Dragons, Bebop and Rocksteady.
Feel lost? If you have just learned of these amazing turtles, here’s a little about the team of four mutant turtles.
- The Teenage Mutant Ninja turtles are trained by their beloved rat sensei, Master Splinter, in the art of Ninjutsu.
- The Turtles are named after four Renaissance artists, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello and Raphael, they battle petty criminals, evil megalomaniacs and alien invaders, all while remaining isolated from society at large in their home in the sewers of New York.
- The characters initially appeared in comic books before being licensed for toys, cartoons, video games, films and other merchandise to become one of the most popular franchises of the last 25 years, earning $260 million worldwide.
When it comes right down to it, if you are a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, then you will enjoy this DVD. But, doesn’t appeal the same for most girls as it does for boys, and although it’s a good DVD, I can’t give this one the full five stars.
