The whole goal of putting together great food for your Halloween party is to make something that is visually grotesque, yet surprisingly tasty. The three must-haves for a spooktacular food spread all come down to creating some edible Fingers, Ears and Eyeballs.

All three items can be made in virtually every course, so when looking for recipes for each of these, decide what course you want them for, or just look at all the options and then decide. The following are some ways that fingers ears and eyeballs are served up on Halloween:

Fingers: The best recipes I have seen have been for cookies and severed fingers made from shrimp (both cocktail and freshly cooked). When searching for recipes, try Halloween Fingers, Witches Fingers and Severed Fingers Recipe — they should yield you a number of results to choose from.

Ears: Ears can be made out of shrimp (both cocktail and freshly cooked/served warm) and made bloody with a little cocktail sauce or spicy marinara. I haven’t seen many recipes for ears, but I have been serving them up as appetizers for years. You can also make ear cookies and bloody them up with a little food coloring and gel icing . If you want to keep it simple, put a platter or dried apricots, apples and pears out to resemble old dried out dead ears.

Eyeballs — the majority of the recipes I have seen have been in the eyeball category. There are a lot of choices available here. You can make gelatinous eyeballs, eyeballs made from eggs, olive eyeballs, cookies, pudding eyeballs. You can search for different options and see which ones you like.

No matter which version you pick, they will look absolutely great on your Halloween food table. If you really want to gross people you can put together a whole “dead body buffet“!

—————————————————-
